KMK melt pressure transducers have been operating with a liquid metal alloy as a transmission medium since 2004. Through our specialized production process, we can completely eliminate mercury-filled sensors, as our customers receive the same consistent measurement values.
Our unique membrane technology ensures the maximum lifespan of the transducers and guarantees reproducible measurement results. Each melt pressure sensor is coated with titanium nitride to prevent the adhesion of plastic melt.
KMK pressure transducers are manufactured with process connections of 1/2"-20UNF-2A and M18 x 1.5. Melt pressure sensors in a flexible design are typically equipped with a highly robust protective spring. Alternatively, these can be supplied with an integrated temperature element. Our sensors are electrically and mechanically compatible with all standard products for pressure and temperature measurement of plastic melt in plastic extrusion. Additionally, we offer a wide range of customizations upon request. The necessary connectors and connection cables are available through our extensive accessory program.
KMK pressure sensors operate using the proven principle of strain gauge (DMS) technology. Pressure is transmitted from a flush-mounted membrane in the melt channel through a closed capillary system to a measuring membrane.
The capillary system of our sensors is fundamentally filled with a mercury-free medium.
A strain gauge (DMS) is placed on the measuring membrane, generating an electrical output signal through its linear resistance change. Depending on the sensor type, standardized signals (2 mV/V, 3.33 mV/V, 0-10 VDC, or 0/4-20 mA) are provided.
